When I have something that needs to be done,
And I need information because I have none.
I’ll use my tools that help me do
The job that I’m happy to share with you.
The Big6 will help me find what I need,
And put it together, I can do it, indeed!
When I have a task, that is something to do,
And I need information to do it because it is new,
Big6 #1 will help me succeed
By figuring out just what exactly I need.
Big6 #2 will help me choose
When I decide just what I can use.
I’ll choose the ones that meet my needs best,
I may choose two or three and leave all the rest.
Where, oh, where can I find these things now?
In the library? In a book? And Big6 #3 tells just how
To find those people or print that I chose,
And get to where my information is located in those.
Read, look, and listen is what I’ll do when
I use Big6 #4 to get just what I need and then
I’ll write it or draw the information I find.
I’ll get what I need because I’ll use my mind.
Once I have found and written all that I need,
I must put it together so I can proceed
To finish the job and show it, you see.
And Big6 #5 will surely help me.
How will I know if I did my job well?

If I did it the best that I possibly could,
And do it better next time if I should.
